After the final match on Thursday 30 May, Venezia–Cremonese, which ended 0–0, some had lost hope, and others thought that Serie A was now just a memory of the 2021/2022 season.
But there were those who never stopped believing and waited for the lagoon team to play at home.

And they were right to do so, because during the second leg of the playoff final, in the 24th minute: GOOOOAAAAL!!! Venezia took the lead thanks to striker Cristian Gytkjær. The Penzo stadium erupted.

Nothing else would stop the final whistle from announcing Venezia’s return to Serie A!

The match was played at home, at Venezia FC’s stadium, Pier Luigi Penzo, located on the island of Sant’Elena, the second oldest football stadium in Italy, after Genoa’s Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Venezia FC is a true symbol for the city of Venice. In fact, on Monday 3 June, as tradition dictates, the celebratory water parade took place. The players, aboard a peata, and the coaching staff, on gondolas, departed at 5:00 p.m. from Piazzale Roma towards St Mark’s Square. The fans’ embrace was warm and heartfelt, from boats and from the quays alike, with chants, flags and songs.

Thank you, Unione!
