Pink October is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the prevention of breast cancer, one of the most common oncological diseases among women, though it can also affect men. Throughout the month of October, information campaigns, events and activities are intensified to highlight the importance of prevention and early diagnosis, key tools in increasing the chances of recovery.

Early detection is essential: thanks to regular screenings such as mammograms and breast ultrasounds, breast cancer can be identified in its initial stages, when treatments are more effective and less invasive. During Pink October, many healthcare facilities offer free or reduced-cost screenings to encourage women to take care of their health.

Beyond prevention, Pink October is also a moment of solidarity with those facing the disease. Cities turn pink, with monuments illuminated to draw attention to this shared cause and to give strength to those fighting cancer. Events include walks, conferences and fundraising initiatives, with proceeds supporting scientific research and the improvement of treatments.

In the Municipality of Venice, two special vehicles have been introduced: the Pink Bus and the Pink Vaporetto. These vehicles are ready to travel through the lagoon waters and along the mainland streets, embarking on a long and dedicated journey to raise public awareness throughout the month.

Taking part in Pink October means not only supporting prevention, but also spreading awareness of the importance of acting in time, reminding everyone that breast health is a priority for all.

For us at Finking, this is a particularly meaningful cause, as our team is largely “pink”.
