Every summer, in mid-July, Venice celebrates the Festa del Redentore (Feast of the Redeemer), a heartfelt tradition that unites the city under the starry sky of the lagoon.
The festival dates back to 1577, when the Serenissima built the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer as thanks for the end of the plague. Since then, a votive bridge of boats has connected the Zattere to Giudecca Island each year—temporary, but full of meaning: a symbol of connection and encounter.
On Saturday, July 19, the lagoon will light up with fireworks, drawing thousands together in celebration. That same weekend, the Regate on the Giudecca Canal will honor Venice’s rowing tradition.
