Blue Monday

January: the month when the holidays are over, schools reopen, the days feel shorter and, strangely enough, we tend to feel a little down, especially if it’s a Monday!

And speaking of Mondays, did you know that next week will be Blue Monday? This idea was born in 2005 from an article by psychologist Cliff Arnall, published in The Guardian, according to which the third Monday of January would be the saddest day of the year.

The reason lies in a so-called mathematical formula that takes into account the weather, financial constraints after the holidays, New Year’s resolutions (let’s be honest, how many of them have we made without ever really keeping them?) and the fact of having to go back to work.

This theory sparked a great deal of interest, even though it has never been unanimously accepted by the scientific community and is still considered pseudoscience. Despite this, Blue Monday has become something of a cult phenomenon and has led to the creation of other themed events, such as World Smile Day and Blue Day.

And you, are you ready to face Blue Monday? Here at Finking, we’ll be arming ourselves with a nice cup of hot chocolate and plenty of patience, to chase away any sadness!
