If you too are a lover of the timeless art of theatre, we would like to inform you that this weekend sees the end of the 52nd edition of the International Theatre Festival, directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte. An edition that has given strong emotions and hosted performances with the most important protagonists of the contemporary theatre scene, as well as productions realised within the Biennale College Teatro, the training project dedicated to young artists.
In its ninety years of activity, the International Theatre Festival has always been able to renew itself and express the spirit of contemporaneity. One of the first Sectors to be established (1934), period photos tell of a memorable debut with The Merchant of Venice directed by Max Reinhardt, staged in Campo San Trovaso. The city acting as its own set, and the citizens transformed into spectators under the Venetian sky.
A two-week multidisciplinary journey in the theatres, rooms and site-specific spaces of the Biennale Teatro, through the experience of a daring ethical-political scope and breathtaking aesthetics, exploring unknown worlds, sharing utopian dreams and profound emotions.
