The PhD Programme in Legal Sciences at the University of Pisa has organised a webinar for 16–17 October 2020 entitled “Psychiatric Illness and Social Dangerousness: Between the Criminal Justice System and Health Services.”
A remote simultaneous interpreting service will be available via the Veasyt Conference application for smartphones and tablets.
Following the institutional greetings by Prof Paolo Maria Mancarella (Rector of the University of Pisa), Prof Giovannangelo De Francesco (University of Pisa) and Prof Alfredo Fioritto (University of Pisa), the session entitled “The psychiatric patient in the assessment of social dangerousness: between security needs and the protection of fundamental rights” will take place, with contributions from Prof Alberto Gargani (University of Pisa), Prof Marco Pelissero (University of Turin), Prof Antonella Massaro (Roma Tre University), Prof Ángel José Sanz Morán (University of Valladolid), Prof Jill Peay (London School of Economics and Political Science), Prof Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque (Universidade Católica de Lisboa), and Dr Sabrina Bosi (Investigating Judge, Court of Ravenna).
This will be followed by “The enforcement of security measures: from criminal justice to healthcare administration,” with Prof Domenico Notaro (University of Pisa), Prof Enrico Carloni (University of Perugia), Dr Gianfranco Rivellini (Psychiatrist, REMS Castiglione delle Stiviere), Prof Harry G. Kennedy (Trinity College Dublin), Dr Francesca Biondi Dal Monte (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), and Dr Mauro Palma (National Guarantor for the Rights of Persons Detained or Deprived of Personal Liberty).
