Last week the eighth edition of ‘Awakenings’ was held, the festival focusing on nature between science and art, entertainment and information. The event was organised by the Botanical Garden of the University of Padua with the contribution of the Cariparo Foundation, and Finking was there with its interpreting services for two of the numerous meetings scheduled over the five days of the festival.
During the conferences, numerous aspects of environmental sustainability were highlighted, including the importance of herbaria and their conservation and what they can tell us about climate change.
In general, these are the events that we love to take part in the most, as they give us the opportunity to learn about what can really make a difference to our planet. Moreover, thanks to interpreting, what is told also becomes accessible to an international audience.
This is not the first time we have translated an event on the topic of sustainability; a few weeks ago, in fact, we were at the Hyperion EU Project conference. The project is funded by the European Horizon 2020 programme and aims at developing new tools and technologies to defend architectural heritage from the effects of climate change. In particular, Hyperion will develop methodologies and tools able to monitor in real time and assess the impact of climate conditions and atmospheric events on monuments in historic centres in order to design more timely and effective restoration and conservation interventions. An extremely important innovation for a city like Venice.
