With summer coming, Lido di Jesolo becomes crowded with tourists from all over Europe. It is a popular destination especially with our German neighbours and northern Europeans. However, holidays can sometimes take unexpected turns, and if accidents occur or medical intervention is needed, tourists who do not speak our language could find themselves in serious difficulty.
Precisely for this reason, once again this year, Local Health Unit 4 has set up a call for young language graduates to work as mediators in the rescue stations and hospitals of San Donà and Portogruaro. Their task will be to ensure communication between German and English-speaking tourists and health personnel, while a telephone interpreting service will be available for tourists of other languages.
We are very proud to see the importance and necessity of the interpreter’s role recognised even in this type of situation. We also hope that tourists will appreciate our beaches even more thanks to the services provided to make their stay trouble-free.
