Laboratory of Culture – Thematic Workshops on Regeneration is the initiative launched by the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists (CNAPPC), in collaboration with the Order of Architects of Venice. It will take place on October 26th at the M9 Museum in Mestre.
Linked to and preparatory for Architect’s Day 2021, one of the most important moments of political and cultural reflection on the role of Architecture and Architects in our country, the Laboratory, in line with the New European Bauhaus, the European Community project, aims to highlight the need to create new living spaces that are inclusive, accessible, sustainable, capable of engaging with different cultures and age groups, and able to foster dialogue between our built environment and the planet’s ecosystems. Spaces that are also inspired by creativity, art, and culture.
These parameters and values have already been developed in several innovative projects that have either been completed or are currently underway from north to south of the country, and which are capable of triggering virtuous processes.
During the Laboratory (from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), the section “Regeneration Projects of Industrial Areas” will present the experiences of the M9 Museum District – Mestre (VE); Ex Officine Reggiane – Reggio Emilia; Noi Voi Loro Onlus – Erba (CO); and BRIN 69 – Naples.
The section “Processes” will feature the following case studies: Progetto Sinfonia – Bolzano; Corviale – Rome; Favara – Favara (AG); Le Officine Zen – Palermo; Switch – Imperia; Ex Nato Collegio Ciano – Naples.
In the section focused on “Infrastructure Projects, Open Spaces, Public Spaces”, the following projects will be presented: Payground – Mercato di Prato; Urban Park in S. Roberto (RC); Waterfront S. Elia – Cagliari; Enrico Fermi School – Turin.
In the final section dedicated to “Projects Focused on the Relationship between Culture, History and Creative Identity”, the following projects will be illustrated: Casa della Cultura – Aquilonia (AV); Costa dei Trabocchi Cycle Path – Chieti; Parco dei Suoni – Oristano.
Among the initiatives scheduled during the Laboratory will be the presentation of the winning projects of the New European Bauhaus Prize.
By opening the debate on the future of our living spaces, the Laboratory of Culture aims to become a permanent forum for collecting the best solutions in the field of urban regeneration.
In the short term, the conclusions of the Laboratory will represent the starting point for the reflections at the heart of Architect’s Day 2021.
Scheduled for November 5th in Venice, the event aims to be a declaration of commitment by PPC Architects to work together with the Ministry of Culture, and with all those who wish to contribute, on a concrete path, through a major collective awareness campaign, towards the “construction” of a Law for Architecture. The goal is to ensure the well-being of the community and future generations by recognizing architecture and landscape as a shared heritage of primary public interest.
