Sustainable tourism: President Damiano welcomes a Finnish delegation at Ca’ Farsetti

The President of the City Council, Ermelinda Damiano, welcomed a Finnish delegation at Ca’ Farsetti, led by Heli Leinonkoski, Director of the Alvar Aalto Museum Foundation in Helsinki, and including several councillors from the city of Jyväskylä.

The meeting focused on a discussion about sustainable tourism in the lagoon. The Foundation has in fact submitted its candidacy to the central UNESCO office in Paris, proposing the creation of a distributed UNESCO site encompassing the cities where architect Alvar Aalto worked. Within this framework, the Foundation sought dialogue with Venice, considered a virtuous model of cultural wealth and sustainability, also with regard to the lagoon’s biosphere.
