The Soft Power Club, an international association founded by Francesco Rutelli, will meet in Venice for its first public event on 31 August and 1 September. The proceedings will be opened by a message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The debates will take place with all the necessary precautions in the time of Covid, and with several contributions delivered remotely.
“The initiative aims to relaunch Soft Power,” says Francesco Rutelli, “as a tool for promoting the interests of nations and for fostering dialogue and multilateral cooperation. The role of citizenship in the digital age, so as not to succumb to manipulation, is increasingly important; as is the role of global companies that operate for transparency, to reduce inequalities and promote diversity and inclusion; and the role of creativity and the cultural industries in promoting openness and reducing conflict.”
