On November 25th we marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Unfortunately, domestic violence continues to be a deeply widespread issue in our country.
From discussions between anti-violence centers, social and healthcare services, and local business associations, Confartigianato and Confcommercio of the San Donà di Piave and Portogruaro districts, it emerged that many women, likely out of fear and shame, before reporting the violence they suffer, confide in people who are closest to them, including their beautician or hairdresser.
For this reason, the project “Sentinels Against Violence” has been launched in several businesses in the San Donà and Portogruaro areas. The initiative consists of training sessions lasting about an hour and a half, led by staff from the anti-violence center La Magnolia in San Donà di Piave, aimed at teaching business owners and employees how to recognize, listen to, and support those showing signs of having experienced domestic violence.
