Did you know that there are around 7,000 languages spoken in the world, including o\ufb03cial languages and dialect variants? Each language carries unique meanings that can communicate thoughts and emotions in an ever-changing way. Today, we want to have fun with you and discover 5 curiosities you might not have known about foreign languages.<\/p>\n

1. The oldest written language: Sumerian is the oldest written language, dating back to 3,500 BC, followed by Egyptian which dates back to 3,300 BC. Ancient Chinese dates back to 1,250 BC.<\/p>\n

2. The USA does not have an o\ufb03cial language. This may seem strange at first glance, as we all know that English is the prevailing language in the American state, but in fact no o\ufb03cial language has been established. Su\ufb03ce it to say that more than 300 di\ufb00erent languages are currently spoken in the country.<\/p>\n

3. The most di\ufb03cult language to learn: Mandarin Chinese is considered the most di\ufb03cult language to learn in the world, all thanks to its alphabet of more than 50,000 symbols. Don’t worry, if you want to reach an adequate level of Chinese, ‘only’ 3,000 will su\ufb03ce.<\/p>\n

4. The first printed language: the first language to be printed on a book was German.<\/p>\n

5. Learning a second language can make you smarter: numerous studies agree that it can maximise cognitive abilities and slow down the ageing of the mind<\/p>\n
