Veneto is certainly no exception, so today we will try to illustrate some of the most beautiful and famous castles, some of which have become the highlights of ancient myths and legends.<\/p>\n
You will certainly have heard of, or even visited, the Scaligero Castle located in Valeggio. This fortress is linked to a legend worthy of a true horror film. It is said that, embedded within its walls, there is a sword belonging to a knight killed in battle who, on stormy or full moon nights, wanders the castle halls in search of his weapon, which has now become untraceable, thus making his wanderings eternal.<\/p>\n
We change atmosphere moving towards Montecchio Maggiore, home to two castles whose origin is attributed to the romantic and at the same time tragic story of Romeo and Juliet. In fact, it is said that the two buildings, located opposite each other, were the summer homes of the two most rival families in history.<\/p>\n
The city of Mestre also originated as a settlement inside a castle (Castelnuovo). The fortress comprised no fewer than 11 towers, but to this day the only surviving one is the Clock Tower, which stands majestically in the centre of Piazza Ferretto.<\/p>\n
